The store sits (well, floats) at the Marina Bay Sands

All hail Apple’s latest branded store; which appears to be modelled after Star Wars’ big bad the Death Star.

It will be the third Apple store in Singapore, and the first in the world to actually float on water.

“As with every Apple store around the world, Apple Marina Bay Sands will bring the best of Apple to our customers, at an iconic location in Singapore. We can’t wait to see you soon,” said the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, as told to the Straits Times.

Previously, the floating dome housed a nightclub. It boasts more than 17,000 square feet and sits next to the Marina Bay Casino.

As per most Apple Store’s, this one won’t simply flog smartphones. According to Apple’s website, it will be “at the heart of creativity, a place we’ve made for you to capture your ideas and passions. It will be a space for you to explore, connect and create something new.”

You can expect a Genius Bar area, a presentation / tutorial area where Apple can host classes, a large demo and storefront, as well as some more token Apple designs (we are guessing they are going to have a lot of fun with water motifs).

No word on when the new store will officially open its doors. Apple is only saying it will happen “soon”.
