H&M is partnering up with world famous Indian designer Sabyasachi for a brand new collection launching in Autumn 2020.
The designer is known for his work with India’s rich textile industry and is a favourite with the country’s Bollywood stars from Priyanka Chopra to Deepika Padukone.
The Sabyasachi x H&M collaboration themed “Wanderlust” will present hand-crafted, eclectic travel pieces that will appeal to the modern global nomad wanting to add that “extra” to their wardrobe.
The collection first announced in January 2020 was initially supposed to launch in April this year but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“When business as usual, becomes unusual, it’s time for solidarity and resilience, to overcome the challenge as a community. The Sabyasachi X H&M launch, due April 16, stands rescheduled till we can come together and be together. Please await the further announcement,” the designer said on his Instagram page earlier in the year.
Now, the global brand has released the launch date for the new collection.
“I am happy to announce the collaboration with H&M, as it gives us the opportunity to spread the Sabyasachi aesthetic to a wider audience in India and worldwide. Having done couture for the majority of my career, it is very exciting to bring that finesse of craft to ‘ready-to-wear’ and create whimsical and fluid silhouettes that bring relaxed sophistication to everyday life.” Sabyasachi.
“At H&M, we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with iconic Indian designer Sabyasachi, known for his dynamic use of indigenous crafts and textiles – a language so stunning, that it permanently altered the fashion and design landscape of the country.” Ella Soccorsi, Concept Designer at Collaborations & Special collections, H&M.
The Sabyasachi x H&M collection will offer a complete fashion wardrobe for both men and women, including accessories. The collection will be available online on ae.hm.com.
