Gucci has unveiled a new capsule collection featuring Disney’s Mickey Mouse – an obvious attempt to enamour itself with the big Chinese markets.
This February sees a new Chinese New Year, represented by the rat.
The new collection spans menswear and womenswear, including t-shirts, knitwear, dresses and sweatshirts, as well as sneakers and accessories like scarves and wallets.
Some of the pieces feature new Mini GG Supreme fabric that draws from a Gucci pattern from the 1980s, as well as Disney’s iconic character.

Gucci brand ambassador and actress Ni Ni is the face of the new campaign, which is set – where else – but in Disneyland. Ni Ni stars alongside actor Earl Cave and designer Zoe Bleu in the digital and print campaign, all shot by Harmony Korine.
“Happy Year of the Mouse from #Gucci,” said the brand on Instagram, featuring Ni Ni wearing a bucket bag from the new collection.
“Designed by Alessandro Michele, the collection features accessories and pieces with Walt Disney’s True Original, Mickey Mouse, appearing on a GG motif bucket bag with leather trim,” said Gucci.
This isn’t Mickey Mouse’s first appearance on Gucci. The famous mouse was part of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2019 and Resort 2020 collections.
Previously, Disney has collaborated with the likes of Lacoste, Rag & Bone and Marc Jacobs.
The entire Gucci collection is available via the Gucci Pin Mickey Mouse pop-up – which is dedicated to Chinese New Year, at The Dubai Mall Fashion Atrium from January 22 – February 18. For more information, go here.
