Hublot and celebrated tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Buchi have unveiled their third collaboration, the Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu, at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. For seven years, the partnership between Hublot and Plescia-Buchi has resulted in a fusion of artistic creativity and watchmaking innovation.

The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu retains the original features of the Big Bang series while incorporating the unique Sang Bleu geometric design. With a faceted, structured 42mm diameter, the watch showcases a three-dimensional and ergonomically-enhanced design. There are three limited editions available: 200 units in titanium, 200 in All Black ceramic, and 100 in King Gold. Additionally, two models are set with 180 diamonds in titanium and King Gold.

Hublot CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe, said, “For this third collaboration, Maxime has infused it with a new spirit without changing its soul, introducing the Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu. He achieves this same transformation, injecting the concepts of the Big Bang Sang Bleu I & II, by redefining the lines of the Spirit of Big Bang.”

Plescia-Buchi, founder of Sang Bleu, has reimagined the Spirit of Big Bang with elongated beveled features and measured, perfectly proportioned angles. The result is a timepiece where the Sang Bleu signature is instantly recognizable.

The artist commented, “My collaboration with Hublot is like constructing a house, an architectural project in itself. The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu is the third wall of this shared structure. It signifies a landmark, as the house we are building now stands firmly and coherently in its own right.”

A 42mm-diameter case is available in Titanium, All Black ceramic, or King Gold, as well as two models set with 180 diamonds. The watch features a sapphire dial that displays the HUB4700 automatic skeleton chronograph movement through disc hands bearing the characteristic geometry of timepieces made in collaboration with Sang Bleu.

The Hublot-Sang Bleu collaboration began in 2016 with the first Big Bang Sang Bleu, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. In 2019, the partnership launched the Sang Bleu II, a “full body” tattoo design across the entire Big Bang model. Now, the 2023 Spirit of Big Bang showcases a new “tattooed” collection, incorporating Hublot’s DNA and the distinctive codes of the Big Bang series.

The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu exemplifies the creative fusion between the worlds of art, design, and watchmaking, resulting in a truly unique, exclusive, and distinctive timepiece that is sure to make a statement on any wrist.
