Lotus will officially pull the wraps off its first 100 per cent electric hypercar next Tuesday, July 16 in London.
Which means Lotus is trying to drum up some interest in the new motor, by releasing its name and teasing some of the car’s more innovative features.
Until now, the all-electric vehicle was simply dubbed ‘Type 130’, and being marketed as “the very first British electric hypercar”. However, Lotus let slip the name of the new car will be Evija, at the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (which opened this weekend).
The Evija will be the first major model Lotus has produced since its purchase by Chinese firm Geely in 2017.
Rumour has it that the new hypercar will boast more than 1,000-horsepower, emphasising Lotus’ sports heritage.
Despite showing off a teaser trailer, Lotus hasn’t said anything about what the car will look like or what’s under the hood.
However, we do know that the car will hit roads in 20202, and only 130 models will be created.
