When a TV show has 245 crew members and takes over three years to make, it’s probably going to be something worth your time. National Geographic’s ‘Hostile Planet’ is likely going to appeal to all those David Attenborough lovers out there. Bear Grylls takes up the role of narrator and host in this new series.
The Man vs Wild star is back, this time though he isn’t going to leap at the nearest camel and sleep in it, nor is it a Bandersnatch style interactive mission. This time he has to sit back and watch nature unfold by itself.
Grylls is set to host the new six-part series ‘Hostile Planet’, which will document the most extreme places on earth and the resilient species that live there.
The series logged almost 1,800 hours of footage, took 1,300 days to film and took place over all seven continents.
It is explained that, “Hostile Planet is the next generation of wildlife filmmaking, acknowledging the world is rapidly changing and that the challenges animals face are different than how they have always been.”
With Grylls at the helm, it will cover mountainous regions, oceans, grasslands, jungles, deserts and polar regions.
Each region will focus on the life and environment of different highly adapted species, ranging from snow leopards, to artic wolves, to sharks to pint-sized meerkats.
Considering the show is all about the stories of survival with this animals, Grylls probably has to be restrained at points to stop him from skinning some animals alive and using them as scarves for ‘survival’.
The six-part saga airs on July 29th in the UAE.
