Rowan Atkinson is said to be ‘extremely excited’ to be planning a reboot of cult comedy Blackadder. And he’s bringing his friends along for the ride, also.
The Mr Bean actor will team up with his original co-stars Tony Robinson, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laure, in a new series of Blackadder which takes place in a modern-day setting.
Previously, it was thought that the original cast would return for a one-off special. However, it’s now believed that this will be a fifth full series.
The original time-jumping series ran for four seasons – from 1983 to 1989 – with each season following one of the Blackadder generations (played by Atkinson) in a different period of history.
The new season will be set in the modern day, where Edmund Blackadder is a university lecturer.
According to rumours, the new season comes after the stars met at London member’s club Soho House. After having a great laugh, they decided to “just do it”.
