Samsung’s new flagship smartphone family has officially arrived in the UAE

The three phones are the Galaxy S22 ultra, the Galaxy S22 Plus, and the Galaxy S22 5G. They all have some unique features, along with a next-generation processor and a powerful camera (that specializes in what Samsung are calling ‘nightography’ – but we’re going to ignore that, and just call it night mode).

None of the phones are particularly small. The littlest of the bunch – the Galaxy S22 – measures 6.1 inches. The Galaxy S22 Plus measures 6.6 inches. And the Galaxy S22 Ultra measures a whopping 6.8 inches of Dynamic AMOLED2X display. All are bright and pin-sharp, with the Ultra’s screen having the ability to scale refresh rates at will (for either performance or battery reasons).

The S22 Plus and S22 Plus are very similar to the S21 models, which have large screens and narrow bezels. They also have rounded corners. The S22 Ultra, however, breaks with tradition with its square-cornered, more formal look (or in other word, it looks a lot like last year’s Galaxy Note).

Case in point, the S22 Ultra comes with the addition of the S Pen – which is built right into the bottom (like the Note). That gives you added Bluetooth skills (like the ability to trigger the camera remotely, by pushing the pen’s button) and advanced handwriting recognition.

The biggest selling point here are the cameras. The S22 Ultra has a new adaptive pixel technology – that claims the ability to take brighter and more detailed images. That’s paired with a massive 108 megapixel sensor.

S22 Plus and S22 Plus have a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto and 10MP telephoto lens.

The S22 phones feature a 4nm processor which is the fastest on a Galaxy device, courtesy of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This works with the 8GB RAM on the S22 Plus and S22 Plus and up to 12GB for the larger-capacity S22 Ultra variant.

All three phones have been available for pre-order until right this second. Now you can pick one up freely at your local gadget shop as of March 15.

The S22 is available for AED3,200 while the larger S22+ will set you back AED3,800. The big daddy – the S22 Ultra – costs AED4,700 along with that ever-useful S-Pen.
