Saudi Arabia’s epic come-from-behind victory against Argentina in Qatar was one of the all-time biggest upsets in World Cup history. But it could have been very different. Heading into half-time, the South Americans were ahead 1-0 (and having had an additional three goals disallowed) and looking comfortable. But something changed.
The Saudi team that emerged in the second half looked a totally different team. No longer in awe of the occasion of playing in the World Cup against the GOAT, Leo Messi, they came out hungry, motivated and firing on all cylinders.
