The Giving Movement (TGM) is launching this May in the UAE. The brand seeks to spearhead conscious consumerism and create an ethical and sustainable line with a collection that is crafted from their own certified sustainable fabric developed from recycled water bottles and bamboo.
The collection will be launching with a range of gender-neutral athleisure-wear that encompass each of the five pillars of The Giving Movement; Positive Impact, Sustainability, Fashion-First, Futuristic and Ethically Made in the UAE.
POSITIVE IMPACT
“Action is meaningless unless it’s humanity in motion” and so the goal of creating a positive impact and higher purpose is at the core of The Giving Movement’s values. TGM believe in working hard, caring harder and giving back. With this in mind, The Giving Movement has partnered with the local independent non-profit organisation, Harmony House, and UAE-based global philanthropic organisation, Dubai Cares. Proceeds from every sale will be donated to fund projects that are dedicated to improving lives on a physical, emotional and intellectual level by providing free education, food, clothing and medical care to under-privileged children.
SUSTAINABILITY
The Giving Movement spent over 6 months developing their own custom-made, certified sustainable technical fabrics ReLon and RePoly that are unique to anything available on the market today. The fabrics are created using recycled post-consumer water bottles and organic bamboo before the surface is brushed to make them as soft on you as they are on the planet. and are sweat-wicking, four-way stretch, lightweight and breathable. With complete transparency in mind, every piece from The Giving Movement comes with a tag which details how many waste water bottles were used in its production.
The Giving Movement packaging is also not made from plastic, but instead the team developed an innovative alternative that is made completely of plant starch that is able to biodegrade in landfills within months. The packaging is also reusable – with an added a re-sealable zipper on each bag – enabling customers to use the bags for anything from carrying wet workout kit to make-up.
FASHION-FIRST
The Giving Movement seeks to be more than a sustainable movement and prioritises a ‘Fashion-First’ ethos so that wearers can be on-trend whilst also making more conscious purchases that are kinder to Earth. Pieces are crafted to fit the modern ‘on-the-go’ lifestyle, taking you from studio to street and are gender neutral, extremely versatile and can be worn dressed up or down.
The Giving Movement team developed long line designs in the vests, t shirts, hoodies and jumpers for women as well as an activewear hijab and a skirt to be worn over leggings.
There is also a looser fit ‘tech pant’ as an alternative to leggings ensuring that everyone can wear The Giving Movement in comfort, including those that want to dress modestly whilst also staying on trend.
FUTURISTIC
As well as developing forward-thinking and innovative fabrics that seek to disrupt the current athleisure market, the detailing on The Giving Movement pieces reflects the futurism that the brand seeks to embody. From molten metallics to subtle neon branding, the aesthetics of The Giving Movement’s pieces are a nod of what’s to expect from every collection drop.
ETHICALLY MADE IN THE UAE
Each piece is made ethically in the UAE and produced in limited quantities with each piece labelled with the number in the series. The Giving Movement is proud to say that all garments are responsibly made in UAE in a certified factory that pays living wages, provides fair working hours and safe conditions, allows unionisation and uses no forced or child labour.
The Giving Movement collection will be available to buy from www.thegivingmovement.com from May 2020 onwards.
