RIMOWA and Italian luxury apparel brand Moncler are excited to announce Moncler RIMOWA “Reflection”, a striking new limited edition mirrored aluminium suitcase equipped with bespoke travel accessories that marry unity and style.

This special edition combines each brand’s engineering expertise and repertoire of technically advanced materials. Based on the RIMOWA Original Cabin in black, the statement suitcase dials up RIMOWA’s iconic aluminium exterior with an ultra-shiny mirrored surface — a finish that at once recalls the lacquered effect found on Moncler’s coveted down jackets, and the reflective glaze of mountain-ready accessories to guard against glare. Embedded in the grooved exterior is a metal Moncler badge; a seamless meeting of the brands’ iconic motifs.

The suitcase’s polished aluminium exterior is offset by matte black handles and riveted corners for practical handling. Inside, an exclusive silver packing cube set in Moncler’s signature padded nylon fabric allows for easy organisation while on the go. Further bespoke accessories include a dark grey luggage tag and belt designed by Moncler.

With an eye ever towards connectivity and technology-enhanced travel, RIMOWA and Moncler have sought to imbue this collaboration with novel ways to make a personal statement. Debuting at Moncler Genius, a programmable LED screen displaying ticker-style messages is also incorporated into the luggage. Mirroring the way in which people express themselves online, “Reflection” reframes modes of digital communication in the physical dimension with hyper-personalised luggage. Through a purpose-built app, travellers can customise the text displayed on the luggage’s programmable LED screen to suit their every mood.

Moncler RIMOWA “Reflection” features as part of this year’s Moncler Genius alongside leading fashion figures like JW Anderson, Simone Rocha and Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM. The concept marks Moncler Genius’ first foray into the world of experience with RIMOWA being one of the first travel brands invited to collaborate and explore notions of technology, connectivity and communication.

Both pioneers of utilitarian luxury, Moncler RIMOWA “Reflection” follows successful collaborations between the two houses in 2014 and 2016 and continues the partnership’s pursuit of quality craftsmanship and technological feats in travel.

Available in limited quantities worldwide, Moncler RIMOWA “Reflection” (RRP 2.100 €) will be available starting from June 2020 in RIMOWA and Moncler stores worldwide and online at RIMOWA.com.
