Tailored, relaxed, outsized, comfortable – our dress sense has never been more versatile. However, suits still remain a fundamental pillar of any man’s wardrobe as they have been for more than one hundred years. How do they continue to stay relevant? Well, that is largely down to evolving suits trends.

In order to smarten up on what we can expect for Spring 2023 with regards to suit trends, we picked the brains of bespoke suit maker, Huntsman, at a recent trunk show at the Bahrain Turf Club.

The Savile Row tailor has been making suits for celebrity and royalty since from 1849, with the likes of Winston Churchill, Marc Jacobs, Henry Cavill and the entire cast of the movie the Kingsman to pad its credentials.

Here’s what its tailors are predicting will be the main suit trends this season:

Elegant Eveningwear

Elegant Eveningwear

A call for formalwear and a resurgence in the appeal of a timeless black tuxedo, the likes of which Huntsman has perfected for both its prêt-à-porter and bespoke customers. The simplicity in its execution makes a well-made tuxedo appropriate for formal occasions, and its longevity will guarantee wearer satisfaction in investment for years to come. The Hammick Double Breasted Tuxedo was designed in homage to the famous arbiter of taste and Huntsman Head Cutter Colin Hammick, and is guaranteed to stay in style.

A call for Classic British tailoring styles

Classic British Tailoring

More men are opting for classic silhouettes, and additional vests and waistcoats to complement their suiting. There is arguably no garment as iconic in contemporary menswear as the suit, and it’s one that Huntsman is world-renowned for. If you’re looking for a timeless, quintessentially British style, opt for the Huntsman signature one-button cut. For a streamlined silhouettethis cut creates a clean, natural chest, with a slightly structured shoulder line and a single button fastening to naturally cinch at the waist, and is incredibly flattering. As we finally rid ourselves of the fatigues of lockdown, we are experiencing the desire to dress up again. Start with perfecting a classic two-piece suit, and build around that. For those with more flamboyant tastes; choose bold chalk stripes or puppy tooth.

The Escorial Travel Suit

Clients are showing a more vested interest not only in the style of their suits but also origin and story behind the cloth. Considered efforts from our partner mills mean that today luxury and technical fabrics don’t have to compromise on a commitment to sustainable practices. Take for example our Escorial travel suit; full traceability right back to the very sheep the wool comes from. Or sustainable cloth; like the wonderfully lightweight and durable bamboo fabric, perfect for durable summer suiting. Today customers are making an informed decision on how their cloth is made, and the properties that benefit them.

Cotton and linen separates

Both in suiting and separates for warm weather tailoring, keep cool with linen, cotton and seersucker. Master the art of relaxed smart-casual by playing with versatile tones and patterns in your suiting. Don’t be afraid to mix in your staple separates; white linen or cotton trousers, and classic shirting to enhance and evolve your summer suiting wardrobe.
