When it comes to haute horology, the delicious is in the detail – and when it comes to intricate design detail, there are few more capable people on the planet than tattoo artist Dr Woo.
Renowned for his ‘fine line’ style of tattooing, Dr Woo has built up a reputation as one of this most notable tattoo artists in Los Angeles’ – and therefore, the world. Showcasing both his eye for detail and that his designs are transferable from human skin to complex ceramics, the artist has collaborated with Swiss ‘hyper-horologists’ Roger Dubuis to unleash his creativity on a skeletonized Excalibur Monobalancier.

Limited to just 28 pieces, Dr Woo’s distinctive designs are applied to the timepiece via laser-etched techniques that sees the time move across the dial between the forces of the sun, Earth and moon.
In an exceptional display of watchmaking, the sun, engraved with meticulous lines and shapes, rotates between 10 and 11 o’clock, while the Earth covers the barrel and revolves between 4 and 5 o’clock, connected to the watch’s hands. At 8 o’clock, the moon reveals the inner workings of the balance wheel, adorned with delicate circles and lines.
The limited edition Excalibur Monoblancier is, in fact, this is the second time Dr Woo has worked with Roger Dubuis. The first collab was back in 2021 on the Monotourbillon timepiece,

The new Excalibur Monoblancier comes in a 42mm ceramic case with a bezel bearing Dr. Woo’s symbols that he uses like an alphabet.
It is driven by the automatic RD720SQ movement with 72 hour power reserve. Every single component is finished by hand.
