Dubai Police’s underwater search and rescue team successfully retrieved a Rolex watch worth AED250,000 that a British tourist dropped into the sea while partying on a luxury yacht.
The watch’s owner, Hamid Al Ameri, 33, had reported the incident to the police after realizing the Rolex Yacht Master was missing, during a cruise around Dubai’s famed The Palm Jumeirah with his friends.
In a tweet from the Dubai Police, it was revealed that it took the specialist dive team only 10 minutes to arrive on the scene and found the watch – worth an estimated AED250,000 – after 30 minutes of searching at a depth of 11.5 meters.
According to the police report, the recovery mission was not without its challenges. The police divers, who are highly trained in locating and retrieving items from the sea floor, faced numerous obstacles, including poor visibility and the potential for the watch to be hidden under rocks or debris on the sea bed.

After a meticulous search, the divers successfully located and retrieved the lost Rolex. The owner expressed his gratitude to the Dubai police for their efforts and efficiency.
Al Ameri posted a video on his Instagram page thanking Dubai Police for retrieving the timepiece.
The Dubai police force’s underwater search and rescue team is known for its exceptional skill and precision. They are often called upon for complex and high-stake missions, such as this one. The team’s success in these operations is a testament to their training, dedication, and commitment to their roles.
“Our aim is to help people and make them happy. We work around the clock to assist the people and respond quickly to help them,” a statement from the Dubai Police said.
It is not the first time Dubai Police have recently recovered valuables seemingly lost in deep water. According to The National newspaper earlier this year, the police force’s divers found an iPhone 14 Pro belonging to a Russian tourist who had lost it at Hatta Dam.
