Wildcatters, roustabouts and roughnecks rejoice! Jacob & Co. has released a timepiece that immortalizes the allure of black gold and the oil industry.
The striking new timepiece – that features a working oil pump on the dial – is part a mechanical piece of art, and part a watchmaking masterclass.

Having taken more than a year to develop, the novelty pieces incorporate two working derricks, an “oil” reservoir and a system of pipes into the watch, and is powered by a manual-wind double-axis tourbillon at its heart.
Everything is on display in the Oil Pump thanks to the unique domed sapphire with a double anti-reflective treatment.

“part a mechanical piece of art, and part a watchmaking masterclass”
The tourbillon cage Oil Pump makes a full revolution on its first axis in 60 seconds and on its second axis in 2.5 minutes. The rose gold Oil Pump automaton is on demand, activated by a pusher at two o’clock.

All of this comes in a very wearable 47mm 18K rose gold and sapphire crystal case, with a solid 18K rose gold case back. Keeping the design clean, there is no setting crown, instead the winding and time setting is done using two bows built into the case back.
With three different references — in Rose Gold, Titanium Black DLC, and White Gold — the Oil Pump, with its oil pumping animation on demand on the dial, is the watch for the special few who have “black gold” in their veins.
