The Swiss watchmaker will reveal novelty watch on April 10

Audemars Piguet has just announced that the luxury Swiss watchmaker has partnered with Marvel for the release of a special piece on April 10th.

In a discussion with actor Don Cheadle – who plays Marvel superhero War Machine – during a livestreamed presentation, Audemars Piguet’s CEO François-Henry Bennahmias made the announcement of the partnership with Marvel that he has been working on for 15 years.

Although while the partnership was announced, watch (and comic) fans will have to wait to see the actual piece that wont be revealed until April 10th. The watch company has remained tightlipped which of its collections the collaboration will be released with, although it is known that several of the Marvel Universe actors (eg. Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr. and Cheadle) are known to be Royal Oak fans.

When asked who was his favourite Marvel character, Bennahmias was rather frank: “The Hulk, because I am basically him! I am nice and helpful, but when you cross me and I’m angry I can definitely become a bit of the Hulk! “

The partnership with Marvel is the latest example of how Audemars Piguet has often looked beyond Haute Horlogerie for inspiration, notably in the realms of pop culture and the entertainment industry. Previous notable collaborations include working with Jay-Z, Michael Schumacher, Serena Williams and LeBron James.

During the presentation the brand also introduced a concept called the ‘AP House’, a more private version of a boutique that are currently in operation in cities including Hong Kong, London and New York, but yet to be confirmed for the Middle East region.
