Omega’s collab with Nekton makes for the perfect Seamaster

Omega has unveiled a new Seamaster 300M watch with help from Nekton, the non-profit research foundation dedicated to exploring and protecting the oceans.

Nekton’s First Descent mission kicked off in 2019, and involves a team of scientists and researchers going to previously unmapped and unvisited locations for the purpose of conservation.

The special Seamaster features a laser-ablated black ceramic dial, with matte finishing and the brand’s wave motif. You get a titanium unidirectional bezel, with a laser-cut diving scale. The movement under the hood is a Calibre 8806, that has been finished with Geneva waves.

As its name suggests, it can handle its own up to 300 meters under the water, but it is also incredibly resistant to magnetic fields; up to 15,000 gauss.

According to Omega’s release, “Our friends at Nekton are protecting the ocean with the global goal of 30 per cent protection by 2030. As a pioneering brand with a long history of pushing at the boundaries of what is possible, we have the utmost respect for this bold, confident vision and we’re thrilled to help make the goal a reality.”

The case back depicts the Seamaster 2 vessel, in honour of yacht racer, explorer and conservationist Sir Peter Blake. It is available to pre-order now starting from US$5,850.
