Skinny ties, hounds-tooth blazers, sharp tailoring, and long coats are all images one might allude to Quadrophenia (if you haven’t seen the film, go watch it. Now). But it’s also what you’ll find on October 23, as Mr Porter teams up with the Mt. Olympus of fashion, Tom Ford, on an exclusive capsule collection for Autumn 2023.

Taking inspiration from 1960s London punks, mods, and your dad’s record collection, the assortment of threads will make you curse the lack of readily available time machines with the ability to transport you to Carnaby Street, driving a scooter with more rearview mirrors than you know what to do with.

Revealing 36 ready-to-wear pieces, three shoes, shoes, and one scarf, the collection embodies the iconic TOM FORD style with a splash (or several) of rock n roll rebellion. Standout pieces include the black leather and shearling pea coats, the shearling collar flight jacket, the psychedelic swirl tuxedo jackets, the gingham blazer, the black and white micro design suit and mohair silk roll neck knitwear.

“We are excited to partner with TOM FORD on our biggest exclusive capsule to date,” says Daniel Todd, Buying Director, MR PORTER. “The collection is inspired by the first one we bought in 2015 and cements the long standing and valued relationship between our two brands. Referencing London and counter culture, the collection is brought to life through the use of texture and luxurious fabrics. By using the iconic TOM FORD tailoring block, the sharply cut styles convey a sense of cool and attitude that we know our customers love from the brand.”

In the days of oversized everything, TOM FORD, as always, makes a pretty solid case for dressing up in something that actually fits, nonetheless fits like you’re on your way to see Pete Townsend do the windmill on stage in Hyde Park. Rock n roll may be dead on the radio airwaves, but this collection says otherwise.
