“Cairo, 7pm tonight.” That was how the Instagram account of fashion brand Denim Tears announced the first showing of its collab with Dior back in 2022. They came, they showed out at the Grand Egyptian Museum, they conquered. Now, just over six months later the B33 sneakers from the Dior F/W23 line offer dreamy fabrics and a touch of tech to go with it.
The problem with luxe sneakers is that they can often feel a little soulless. They run the risk of seeming like an expensive afterthought and, barring a few exceptions, often miss their mark on the street.

The Dior x Denim Tears collab works for a number of different reasons, however. Firstly because they look sick. But secondly, and more importantly, because of the association with Denim Tears founder—and now Supreme creative director Trefaine Emory. Emory’s clout means not only street smarts, but also an authenticity of story, with his inspiration coming largely by way of the African diaspora. Add this to the brilliance of Kim Jones at Dior and well, you’re going places.
Three sneakers types will be available from July 13, offering function and no little refinement. While one shoe is puffed up with mohair, the second is so by the essential Dior oblique toile. Finally, the third features the toile reimagined in denim.

While all three will look stellar on your summer city breaks, it’s the tech that makes them stand out for us. Thanks to an encrypted digital key—that utilises NFC tech—placed in the sole of each right foot, you can reach a personal secure platform that features a host of dedicated services.
From the shoes certificate of authenticity to additional information on the different stages of making the shoe, and even preview information on future drops, you’re basically plugged into your sneakers like never before. It seems these Denim Tears are are actually tears of joy.

The B33 sneakers are expected to drop on July 13. You can sign up for a pair at the Dior homepage.
