When people hear the jovial tune of ‘Because I’m happy’ bumping on the radio, they sometimes forget that Pharrell’s musical veins are rooted deep in hip hop. So deep, that Pharrell had to reiterate this fact to those seemingly in the unknown, as he just dusted off his old Kangol hat and sweatpants to reinvent the launch of the Superstar 92, one of the most iconic silhouettes of all time.
Fusing titanic proportions with premium materials, the new Adidas sneaker pays homage to individuality and cultural legacy, ensuring that a classic continues to evolve while staying true to its original DNA. And he got the help from Pusha T and Clipse along the way.

Shot in his hometown of Virginia Beach, the campaign unfolds like a love letter to Pharrell’s city—its energy, people, and unmistakable character.
Through a series of compositions, the imagery expands, revealing the essence of Virginia Beach in a way that feels intimate and cinematic, like a music video that we were all a part of. By immersing viewers in Pharrell’s deep connection to the city, the project transforms nostalgia into high art—effortlessly cool, undeniably authentic, and unmistakably 1992.

Better known as the Double Wide, the 92 Superstar is a sneaker that channels the oversized aesthetics of the ‘90s while borrowing functional cues from snowboard boots. With thick ankle padding for supreme comfort and a chunky sole that commands attention, this design reimagines the iconic Adidas Superstar through a lens of bold, high-performance style. With a big, wide ‘Virginia’ plastered on the tongue, Pharrell once again reminds us where he comes from.
Retailing for $200 (AED 735), the Superstar 92 will be available in black and white at select Adidas retailers and online as of March 1, 2025.
