Traditionally, the pace of men’s tailoring means that it doesn’t tend to reinvent itself too drastically season on season, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t evolve. Here, Beirut-born tailor Amer Ejjeh gives us an insight into what new tweaks and tricks we should be aware of for Winter 2022/3…

1. Perfect the pattern
The cooler months mean that there is a bigger tendency to add on the layers, which means there is more room and time to experiment with patterns.

For Winter 2022/3 suiting and jacket patterns are extremely focused bolder prints that add significant character to your style. Think: wide checks, thick pinstripes and bold Prince of Wales to be used on all used on suits and jackets.

2. Step into the lights
Usually we are used to seeing the patterns above combined with classic dark colours. However, for this season we are witnessing a rise in bold patterns being married with light colours, for example, white wide pinstripes on baby blue or brown pinstripes on green

3. Try to blend in
As for fabrics, the focus of this season is blends. Fabrics that are a combination of wool/Kashmir, wool/cotton, wool/bamboo give a result of comfortable outfit especially for travelling and lots of movements.

Some new items come with water repellent characteristics giving the chance to the consumers to wear their suits during rainy days.

4. Triple down
When it comes to the cut, this season the three-piece suit is back in style. With the return of party season and people now really keen to dress up again, focus has returned to double breasted jackets and in many cases paired with a vest.

5. Weekend smart-casual
While weekday dressing may have taken a more formal turn, our affection for luxe-casual is hard to shake off completely. We will still see plenty of demand for trousers/joggers with draw strings due to the comfort they provide, but the quality of material will be there – notably a wool/linen blend.
