If the roar of a V6 turbo sets your heart racing but your wardrobe’s still in the safe zone, Tommy Hilfiger has just waved the flag. The US-based label’s new APXGP Collection, created in collaboration with F1® The Movie and fronted by rising star Damson Idris, brings track-side energy into the everyday outfit. The line-up is practically an announcement that “motorcore” has officially become mainstream.

Launching ahead of the film’s international release on June 25, the limited-edition line blends racing style with preppy tailoring. The collection features moto-emblazoned mechanic shirts, a varsity-meets-moto jacket cut from vegan leather, tailored Japanese denim and a merino-knit polo made for a podium-level cameo.

Idris, who plays APXGP rookie Joshua Pearce opposite Brad Pitt’s veteran Sonny Hayes, says: “Working with the Tommy Hilfiger team and on F1® The Movie has been an unforgettable ride — an authentic blend of iconic style and cinematic power.”

For Tommy Hilfiger himself, the collaboration is decades in the making. “Since I was a kid peeking through the fences at Watkins Glen racetrack, Formula 1™ has been legendary to me,” he recalls. “As F1® has opened its doors to new worlds like entertainment and fashion, the sport has become a cultural phenomenon.” It seems like that lifelong obsession drove the collection’s details such as sponsor-style graphics, high-contrast piping and a crimson quilted jacket taken directly from Idris’s on-screen wardrobe.

“Our goal was to fuse the innovation, precision and adrenaline of Formula 1 with our bold, vibrant and confident DNA,” Hilfiger explains.

While, design is one thing, attitude is another and Idris embodies exactly that confidence Hilfiger was talking about. Giving a snippet into his styling philosophy, Idris says, “I’m into the all-white polo with the team graphics – it’s clean, but still has that attitude, and feels like everyday luxury with a sporty twist. You can pair it with the underlayer shirt for a crisp, layered finish, then add the red cap to give it just the right pop.”
