Less than one year into his newly appointed role as creative director of one of the most iconic fashion houses of all time, Tom Ford, Peter Hawkings announced back in July that he will be departing the role. And as of just a few minutes ago, on Tom Ford’s official Instagram account, they announced Haider Ackermann will be taking over as creative director.

“It is with tremendous pride that I will seek to honor the legacy of Tom Ford, a man I have long admired and have the utmost respect for,” said Ackermann. “I am much looking forward to what lies ahead.”

Ackermann is a Colombian born, French designer who, in 2016, succeeded Alessandro Sartori (current creative director at Zegna) as the new creative director at Berluti. His creations have been worn by Timothee Chalamet, Kanye West, Tilda Swinton, and many other reputable figures in entertainment.

Ackermann’s first collection will debut at Paris Fashion Week in March 2025. He will be based in Paris, reporting to Guillaume Jesel, President and CEO, TOM FORD and Luxury Business Development, The Estée Lauder Companies, and to Lelio Gavazza, CEO, TOM FORD FASHION, Ermenegildo Zegna Group.

“Haider stands out as one of the world’s most visionary and inspiring talents in fashion. He draws on his deep affinity for global culture and the arts to create arresting fashion and memorable emotional connections. He is the ideal steward to usher TOM FORD into the future,” said Jesel.

Tom Ford stepped down from his legendary brand in 2023 after its $2.8 billion (AED 10.2 billion) sale to ELC group the previous year, who is part of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group. Hawkings had made his Tom Ford creative debut in September 2023, after over two decades working alongside Ford himself, initially at Gucci, eventually at Tom Ford, which was founded in 2005.

Best of luck.
