In late 2022, Tom Ford was purchased by Estee Lauder for AED 10.2 billion, with Mr. Ford himself earning close to AED 3 billion for the deal. And in April 2023, Ford stepped down as the brand’s creative director and was succeeded by designer Peter Hawkings, who has now officially released his second collection with the iconic fashion house for the upcoming Fall/Winter collection. After one glance, it’s safe to say the brand is in good hands.

Hawkings has not deviated from the recognisable Tom Ford silhouette with lacquered Chelsea boots to match, yet one can still notice the distinct twist the new creative director has injected into every piece. With military inspired chasseur jackets, blue biker jackets and wide, square sunglasses, Hawkings’ first collection honours the TF history while planting his own flag at base camp.

With slicked back hair and razor sharp edges on his blazer, boot-tip and duffel bag, the Tom Ford man is who we all strive to be. And if anyone kept a close eye on the MET Gala, one would perhaps be surprised to find Tom Ford himself not wearing his eponymous brand, but rather Yves Saint Laurent. Perhaps wearing one’s own label loses its novelty after a while, but had it been us, we’d take any excuse to wear TF.
