Even for the uninformed bystander, more often than not, they’ll have heard the name Ayrton Senna. The legendary Brazilian Formula One driver who tragically lost his life in 1994 (the last death to ever occur in F1) has become engrained into mythical folklore, with the details surrounding his death still widely contested today. But one consensus remains: his brilliance behind the wheel, and the legacy he left behind.
14 years after the wildly successful documentary Senna (2010), Netflix has now given the Brazilian athlete his live action biopic mini-series, Senna, set to debut tomorrow, November 29, 2024. And like many decorated athletes and celebrities, Ayrton was as known for his style as he was his talent, specifically, his affinity for Persol sunglasses. The iconic Italian eyewear brand has now teamed up with the streaming giant for a limited collection honouring Senna in all his ’80s and ’90s glory.

An ’80s style acetate sweatband, sleek and streamlined, accented with the unmistakable Supreme Arrow and Meflecto stays true to Senna’s style and charisma for which he became so universally loved.
If there was ever a time to invest in some iconic shades, it’s now.

The entire collection can be found here.
Produced by Gullane and created in partnership with Senna Brands and the driver’s family, the miniseries commences at the start of the three-time Formula 1 champion’s motor racing career, from his early kart years to when he left his native Brazil to compete in Formula Ford in England, up until his tragic accident in Imola, Italy, during the San Marino G rand Prix.
Starring Gabriel Leone as the legendary Ayrton Senna, the show is set to be one of the hottest releases this year. Watch the trailer below, and tell me that doesn’t get you emotional.
