So you’ve embraced the return of the backpack, but would you go as far as to wear a fluffy one? You might if industrial designer Marc Newson and Louis Vuitton were involved, which is what this piece of interesting back wear is all about. To celebrate 108 years of Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram print, the French brand has given six influencers, Christian Loubtoutin, Cindy Sherman, Frank Gehry, Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakabo and Marc Newson carte blanche to design a product celebrating the patterned canvas. “I design things that fundamentally I would like to own,” admits the 50-year-old Australian designer who joined Apple in September. “I set about trying to collate all my experiences over the years of owning a backpack. Making the thing stand up for example was very important. I hate it when you wear a backpack, take it off and it falls over.” The designer has used the durable and weather-proof canvas around the base of the bag and juxtaposed it with furry sheepskin not just for kicks, but for a very specific reason. “The sheepskin is not only durable, but it’s like a pillow. If I ever want to prop the bag up and have a snooze, I can.” All of a sudden it looks a little more appealing now, doesn’t it?
