I should say that fashion collaborations no longer surprise me, but that would be a lie. In what is perhaps the most positively unexpected announcement in recent memory, Hugo has just teamed up with legendary filmmaker, Tim Burton, to create a once-in-a-full-moon capsule inspired by the iconic The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The legendary protagonist, Jack Skellington, is ingrained into the psyche of pretty much any one person with access to television, and his recognisable face is featured on jersey and knit pieces including hoodies, t-shirts, sweaters, pajamas, socks, sneakers, scarves, beanies, and even a tie.
If you were looking for a way to channel your youth while still dressing like a reputable adult, your quiet prayer has finally been answered.
Fashion X film has been a recurring theme in streetwear for some time, with brands like Supreme and SCRTCO collaborating with classics such as Scarface and Akira, so it’s pleasing to see that high-end brands have decided to jump on board. When admiring the collection, one can’t help but wish to have been a fly on the wall during that initial Hugo creative meeting when the idea to collaborate with Nightmare Before Christmas was first proposed. Considering the recent success of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel, does this mean we can expect another collab in the future? Who knows? But we really hope it’s not the last.
The collection is available everywhere online and in Hugo stores.
