We’re probably not the first to break this news, but men’s tracksuits have now officially reached staple status. But while we don’t bat a condescending eyelid to loungewear louche any more, we are here to tell you that casual, relaxed wear doesn’t have to be unstylish.

Cue Dior’s miracle man Kim Jones’ take on the WFH staple that catapults the leisurewear to new levels of red-carpet ready – the tailored tracksuit.

What makes a tailored tracksuit, you ask as you envisage pictures of Tony Soprano wearing a Fila velour two-piece sitting on plastic garden furniture chair puffing on a cigar? The devil is in the detail.

Adopting virtuoso construction techniques, the ensemble consists of a suit top and trousers, enhanced with “Dutch pleats” on the sleeves and waistband, and formed with the aid of a drawstring tucked inside to give the garment a three-dimensional effect.

The silhouette has a sartorial spirit that is refined and casual, than baggy and shapeless – reflecting the excellence of the Ateliers and the essence of Dior style from an ultra-contemporary angle.

When the tailored tracksuit first debuted on Dior Men’s momentous runway underneath the pyramids of Giza. There was more than a sense of futurism about the collection – but with regards to this version of the tracksuit, it is a future we’re happy to be heading towards.
