A tell-tale sign that the humble blue jean has grown up is that French fashion maison Dior has released an all-denim menswear capsule collection, aptly titled Dior Denim.

Designed by Dior Men’s artistic director Kim Jones, the collection features an upmarket revisioning of the wardrobe staple in a series of denim jeans divided into three categories of cuts: The Slim, The Regular, and The Carpenter.

To complete the look, the collection also includes a line-up of denim shirts and jackets in faded shades of indigo, black, and gray. Of the shirts and outerwear, a few are reversible, offering a pattern on one side and a solid colour on the flip.

The eco-friendly cotton of each pair of jeans is met with the Dior signature typography on a leather patch, sitting above the back pocket, while some of the shirts and jackets are decorated with the Dior Oblique motif.

According to the brand, Dior Denim is a love letter to the timeless significance of blue jeans. “This is probably the last modern invention for men. It’s something cultural,” Jones said in a statement.

Having recently dressed Dior’s latest House ambassadors, K-pop boyband Tomorrow X Together, for their history-making Lollapalooza headlining show and their 2023 MTV VMAs appearance, Kim Jones is appealing to a younger, more casual clientele, merging sophisticated workwear shapes with the freedom of movement granted by denim.
