As Dior’s sneakers become more and more ubiquitous across the most discerning feet in the region, the brand has given its beloved B29 sneaker a makeover for the Summer 2022 Men’s Collection.

The new iteration of the retro-inspired sneaker ‘combines the modernity of rubber and reflective canvas with the elegance of leather and suede,’ according to Dior. ‘Its geometric curves and contrasting colours further elevate its vintage look.’

Vintage is of course all the rage at the moment, with Aime Leon Dore’s retro introduction of New Balance’s BB550 now one of the most popular shoes in the world, and Nike releasing a retro-inspired Jordan 1 Chicago later this year—amongst many, many others.

Dior has them beat in the craftsmanship department as well as its skilful eye for detail, and it’s no mistaking who made it—the CD initials and Dior signature can be seen with a two-tone sole entirely covered in the Dior oblique motif.

All and all, it “creates an object of desire that pushes Dior’s take on sportswear ever further,” according to the brand.

To our eyes, especially with that grey colourway, they have the feel of an elevated New Balance 997/997.5. Who could say no to that?
