It’s often the little things that make the most difference. An attention to detail to show that you’re aware (and care) about the effect of going that little extra mile. It’s why we love bespoke, and it’s one of the things that we appreciate from a tailors like Ascots & Chapels.

Always conscious and courteous to help share their advice and good will, the British heritage brand has launched a new rolling campaign that will see them work with UAE-based artists by commissioning them to design a unique piece of art that will used as the lining for a custom bespoke suit jacket.

With a monthly rotation of artists, designers, and illustrators, the tailors kicked off the campaign with contemporary Emirati artist Khalid Al Banna.

Ascots & Chapels

“This collaboration is super exciting for us as a brand. We are incredibly passionate about our craft and love the idea of merging these two worlds of craftsmanship for something so unique,” says Gary Sweeney, Ascots & Chapels’ Brand and Style Director.

The vibrant universe of Sharjah-based artist Al Banna is recreated in a limited-edition suit jacket inner lining as an ode to his practice of contemporary fine art. The artist’s oeuvre encompasses etching, which is a signature in his practice along with incorporating collages that celebrates and preserves Emirati heritage.

“By transforming my print artworks to fabric my vision becomes more accessible,” says Al Banna. “It was fascinating to see come to life in a tactile and fluid form. It also adds a more artistic value to the suit and completely brings it to life.”

For every suit sold with the artwork lining, the artists will also benefit directly from a portion of the sales, on top of the initial commission. This limited-edition collaboration will run throughout 2022, featuring an exciting roster of artists from within the UAE, from all cultures, disciplines and walks of life.
