The singer hit the streets of New York in some knitwear that looks a little familiar

Princess Diana is going to be your style inspiration this winter. At least, that is, if Harry Styles has anything to say about it. Currently in New York for rehearsals for this week’s Saturday Night Live, the singer-songwriter appeared in a predictably wonderful outfit, but wait a second—is that? Yes, that’s a damn sheep sweater vest. Let’s discuss this moment of livestock perfection.

Initially clocked by Rachel Seville Tashjian on Instagram, that sheep-laden sweater vest has some serious Diana vibes from the ’80s. She was photographed in the early ’80s wearing a near-matching full-sized red sweater with sheep at a polo match. As for Styles, pulling inspiration from the People’s Princess doesn’t seem too out of character—he is, after all, a modern fashion icon himself. And this barnyard style flex is actually pretty wonderful.

If you want to recreate the look yourself, you need only look to Lanvin, which created Styles’s knit ode to ungulates. If you can’t lay your hands on that particular garment—it’s part of the label’s upcoming spring/summer 2020 collection, so, yeah, you might have trouble—then there’s always an array of other animals that were present at the nativity. Perhaps you can find yourself a sweater vest adorned with donkeys or oxen or the often underrepresented Nativity Lobster.

Either way, leave it to Harry Styles to make a wool sweater vest a coveted fashion item in 2019. Expect him to pull off some equally cool ensemble when he tackles double duty as host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live this week. Oh, and if you find that vest on sale, holler at me. I need a ‘fit for the upcoming spate of holiday parties.
