Dunhill aims for the ultimate man bag this season

It’s been a big year for Dunhill. It recently located to Paris, away from its native home of London. And the brand has just opened a new flagship boutique in Dubai Mall. And it’s not done yet…

Speaking at the unveiling of his seasonal collection, Dunhill creative director Mark Weston admitted that Dunhill was taking inspiration from the seventies and early eighties because – in his own words – it was a time when “guys really cherished wearing clothes”.

That inspiration is no more apparent than in Dunhill’s latest range of accessories, or specifically, its leather bags. The collection remains faithful to the overarching theme of the season (lots of luscious leather, putting masculinity front and centre) while injecting a relaxed, sporty attitude. And that attitude is key.

According to Weston, this is a big year for Dunhill, one where it hopes to express “more of a complete message”. That concept trickles down to accessories in an interesting way, and despite being made of some of the finest leather in the world, each piece is equally suited to being slung over the back of a tracksuit top – or sat aside a man wearing a tuxedo.

Expect the hues of the season; deep maroon reds, sumptuous light and chocolate browns, as well as some dark green and blues (in some rather fetching camouflage variants). And in true Dunhill style, real-time has been taken with regards to the details – from fetching contrast stitching on the interior to high-quality metalwork on zips and buckles.
