Tyler, the Creator is no stranger to controversy. Whether it’s as a result of supposedly inciting a riot or legitimately being banned entry into the United Kingdom, it would be pretty safe to say that Tyler ruffles the feathers of society’s more traditionalist individuals wherever he seems to go. In fact, Tyler’s latest album (with a title so explicit we’re probably not legally allowed to write it down) was leaked earlier this weekend, and has already caused mass speculation regarding the musician’s sexuality. It seems that people simply can’t stop talking about Tyler, the Creator, which is just one of the many reasons why Converse have decided to collaborate with the artist after his previous affair with fellow skate-shoe conglomerate Vans fell apart.
The reasons for Tyler’s falling out with Vans remain unclear; however, rumours seem to indicate that the rapper wanted more creative freedom than they were willing to give to him.
Tweeting “CONVERSE AND I ARE FRIENDS NOW”, Tyler’s relationship with Converse truly seems to be the best thing for both parties as he brings the playful aesthetic of his Golf Wang clothing label to the classic Converse One Star. Designed in an exclusive clearwater colourway, the One Stars have been given a much-needed revival by Tyler’s creative presence – a wise move made by Converse as they attempt to re-capture the attention of today’s youth.
Priced at only Dhs 367 in a limited release, these shoes are also going to be pretty difficult to get a hold of. Okay, that’s a grave understatement, as, considering the cult following Tyler has amassed over the years, these shoes are going to be nigh-on impossible to get a hold of. And with an actual timer on the Nike site counting down the seconds until they’re available for purchase, you’d really be best not to sleep on this exclusive release.
