Credit cards at the ready, gents. Today is the day when Gucci’s exclusive capsule collection for Mr Porter goes live. The 43-piece collection is across ready to wear, shoes and accessories and infuses the rich textures and vivid colour palette that Alessandro Michele has brought to the House. Here’s Fiona Firth, buying director, for Mr Porter, explains more about the collaboration.

This is Mr Porter’s first exclusive capsule with Gucci, tell us how this collection is unique?
This collection encapsulates everything that Gucci stands for today. Showcased across 11 looks, covering suiting to sportswear, over half the range are exclusive styles with the balance being exclusive colour variations. The RTW range comprises of 26 options and coupled alongside 6 styles of footwear and 11 options of accessories.
How did the project come about?
The conception of the project stemmed from exploratory conversations between the Mr Porter buying team and the Gucci commercial team. Our global customer has embraced the new direction of Gucci, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, and we wanted to reward them with something unique. From there the project was born.
How did the design process work? Was there a lead on the creative or was it more of a meeting of minds?
We presented the Gucci teams with a selection of sales data on our bestselling categories, which in turn built the framework for the collection to be created. The output was a meeting of minds.
What sets this collaboration apart from other exclusive capsules Mr Porter has launched?
Together with this being Mr Porter’s first exclusive capsule with Gucci, the fact that it is Gucci, one of the most talked about global brands of the moment, makes it a hugely unique offering. And of course not forgetting the broad nature of exclusive product available throughout the collection,
Which are your key pieces in the collection that you’d like to shout about?
I am a huge fan of this collection as it showcases a curated selection of the creativity of the Gucci brand at the moment – so it’s hard to choose a select few pieces. But if I had to pick my key items, they would be: Navy Paisley printed bomber jacket, Navy Cambridge jacket with red piping, Green leather Horsebit loafer, Navy wool trousers with the velvet piping.
