Though the title may read like the happy announcement of a civil partnership, trust us when we tell you that it’s fashion related. And just like when Michael Jordan teamed up with Nike, the best fashion collaborations are often the ones that make the most sense, with the recent retail partnership announced between Ermenegildo Zegna and online retailer Mr Porter being one that makes complete and utter sense. In fact, the most surprising thing about this collaboration is that it’s taken this long for it happen.

The ideal partnership in an ideal world involves each party giving back something to the other, it’s an “I scratch your back, you scratch mine” situation that can often end up with party being left far more itchy than the other. This isn’t the case here, however, as this latest collab appears to be entirely mutually beneficial. Ermenegildo Zegna is a leading luxury menswear brand and fabric maker that has been dressing gentlemen since 1910. Mr Porter has been supplying men all over the world with their high-quality fashion needs with a few simple clicks of the mouse, for the past five years, and now has most major brands that matter onboard. You can probably see where this is going. 

Zegna’s partnership with Mr Porter confirms that the iconic family-run brand is really looking towards the future of retail in order to keep up-to-date with the methods that consumers use to buy products. CEO Gildo Zegna has noted this need for innovation, stating that: “Mr Porter, with its engaging and creative digital allure, is the perfect window to showcase the Ermenegildo Zegna luxury collections and to reach out to a contemporary man.”

And reach out it certainly has, with Mr Porter launching an exclusive prime selection of luxury tailored and read-to-wear pieces from Zegna’s signature selection, including their trademark Trofeo water-resistant softwool, tailored denim, cashmere knitwear, and a variety of seasonal jackets. Customers will even be able to purchase Zegna’s stellar footwear through the site, copping themselves pairs of the sought-after Pelle Tessuta and Triple Stitch Sneakers.

On July 28th, Mr Porter’s The Journal will showcase a celebratory feature for the launch of Zegna. It’s quick, it’s cool, and it’s convenient. And the best part of all is that you now no longer need to get up from your computer desk in order to dress like a man who doesn’t spend his day sitting at a computer desk.
