A few days ago, Conor McGregor pulled out of his highly anticipated matchup against Michael Chandler, in what would have been his first fight back in the UFC since July 2021, where he broke his leg and subsequently lost against Dustin Poirier. His leg break was as nasty as it gets, and many wondered if the brash-mouthed Irishman would ever return from such an injury.

Now it was revealed that another injury has sent Conor back to the sidelines and, predictably, the internet blew up in hysteria. But UFC President Dana White said the injury was “absolutely real.”

“Conor McGregor – maybe he’ll fight again, maybe he won’t. You never know with some of the guys that get to that level. You never know when you’re going to see them again,” White said during a recent interview.

Speculations of McGregor pulling out began when the former two-weight champion cancelled a press conference earlier this month, and shortly thereafter, it was revealed that he had, in fact, suffered yet another injury.

“Conor McGregor never leads up to a fight and tries to renegotiate a contract or get more money,” White added. “Conor McGregor is hurt right now. It’s absolutely real. He’s never done anything like that.”

But perhaps the biggest heartbreak goes to Michael Chandler, who had not only spent two years waiting to fight McGregor, but would have picked up his fattest paycheck to date.

Speaking on his Instagram account, Chandler said, “Got the rug pulled out from underneath me at the last possible moment. I just had got done with my last sparring session Thursday morning.”

Wishing Conor a speedy recovery.
