Super Hat-Trick

A hat-trick is when a player scores three goals in a game and a super hat-trick is when they score four goals in a single game. Simple! The goals don’t have to be in any particular order and penalties during regular time count towards the total.

Why is it called a hat-trick?

The term hat-trick started very early in the history of football, as early as 1858. It is believed to have been coincide by English cricketer H.H. Stephenson, who had delivered three consecutive balls while playing with Hallam. At the end of the game, there were people who collected money from the spectators. The money was placed in a hat before being presented to Stephenson. After seeing this, Stephenson then coined the term “hat-trick”.
