Golfer Rory McIlroy is no stranger to the Gulf. The former world number one has won tournaments here, owns property in Dubai and was, for a time, even sponsored by Jumeirah.
Ahead of the upcoming Dubai Desert Classic, the four-time major winner spent the past weekend on Abu Dhabi’s beautiful Yas Links Golf Course, taking part in the Pro-Am tournament at the Abu Dhabi Golf Invitational.
As one of the sponsors of the event, Esquire Middle East was there to watch the Northern Irishman smash a drive 300-yards down the centre of the 16th fairway, before sharing a laugh with his caddie and wandering over to chat to some onlookers.
