Timothée Chalamet, Lionel Messi, Bad Bunny, and more join forces for Adidas World Cup 2026 campaign.
The star-studded film Backyard Legends brings together celebrities and football legends, releasing roughly a month before the FIFA World Cup 2026™ begins.
At the start of the video, Chalamet talks to Bad Bunny, saying, “What do I know about soccer? Nothing. I know about football, Benito. Football.” Then the story starts rolling.
Other notable names, including Zinedine Zidane, Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham, and David Beckham, make brief but dramatic appearances throughout the film. A montage follows of children playing football, chanting, “Who’s next?”

“I used to dream of playing with these guys—you know, I was playing at Pier 40 as a kid, thinking about Beckham’s free kicks, Del Piero’s goals, and Zidane’s volleys—doing my own versions,” Chalamet says. “I love this game, so it’s unbelievable to be doing this with Adidas, alongside the best to ever do it. I’m a traditionalist. I don’t know soccer, I know football, and I can’t wait for this summer’s World Cup.”

Set against a nostalgic soundtrack and a backdrop of 90s street and terrace culture, analogue tech, and era-defining hairstyles, the film blends cutting-edge CGI and visual effects to reinforce a simple idea: the backyard is where pressure disappears and legends begin. Whether it’s a cage pitch, a parking lot, a patch of grass, or the World Cup stage, the game belongs to those who play free.
The film, released ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, celebrates the joy of free play and reminds football fans around the world that every pitch—from backyards to stadiums—can create a legend.
