Felix’s gold tally is now at 12, one more than what Bolt finished with at the 2017 World Championships.

Sorry Usain Bolt, but there’s a new world record holder in town. Allyson Felix made history at the World Athletic Championships after she bagged 12 gold medals which is one more than Bolt’s 11.

Felix’s new world record also comes a mere 10 months after giving birth to her daughter.

Earlier this year the US sprinter took on Nike and the maternity policies for its sponsored athletes. According to CNN: “Felix successfully got the brand to adapt its policy which now ensures female athletes won’t be “adversely impacted financially for pregnancy” for 18 months, which is six months more than under the previous policy.”

In an op-ed in The New York Times, Felix detailed that Nike wanted to pay her 70 percent less following her first pregnancy.
