…and arguably the best bit of commentary ever

Phew, what a night that was! The group stage of football’s European Championships has now concluded, and in some mighty dramatic fashion! The unfancied teams of the Irelands (both Northern and Republic), Hungary and (perhaps most unexpectedly) Iceland have all defied the odds to progressing to the knock out stages.

While most people with a fairytale-loving bone in their body are reveling in the bit of magic that has been injected back into the global game, the real icing on the cake came from the biggest game in Iceland’s football history.

Holding a much-fancied Austrian team to a 1-1 draw as the game entered into its dying seconds, Iceland broke on the counterattack and, well, perhaps it’s best that the commentator in the video below tells you the rest of the story. Anglo-Icelandic dictionary at the ready…
