As health and safety precautions continue to take paramount importance in our daily lives, we have all had to innovate and adapt to the challenge of maintaining out workout routines.
With exercise, a key way to help us stay both mentally and physically healthy, we’ve been searching for the best ways to improve at-home workouts, from convenient equipment and online videos to new fitness trackers. After much consideration, our search has led us to the newly-released Fitbit Charge 4.
This latest generation of fitness tracker from Fitbit comes loaded with every conceivable support to help with your workout routine during the ‘new normal’, from neighbourhood jogs to swimming to indoor yoga sessions. Between providing real-time stats and post-workout data, this new fitness tracker, which joins Fitbit’s collection of trackers and smartwatches, is the perfect social distancing companion.
With Charge 4, Fitbit has also introduced a new fitness metric called Active Zone Minutes. It automatically recognizes personalised heart rate targets using 24/7 PurePulse heart rate tracking to motivate and track activities that get your heart pumping. By measuring more than movement, it can help you reach your recommended daily and weekly activity goals. These Active Zones minutes can be achieved with a HIIT workout or something as easy as gardening, however Active Zone Minutes give you higher rewards for higher intensity activities. This means you can hit your activity goals in half the time by doubling your efforts.
Furthermore, a new workout intensity map in the Fitbit app provides you with a detailed breakdown of your different heart rate zones during your workout. After completing a GPS-enabled workout, sync your device to see a GPS-powered heat map in the app, to help you visualize and improve how you are performing against different terrain. This is a really good feature for all those who are looking for deeper insights to their outdoor workouts.
Due to its smart technology, should you want to go for a run, walk, hike or bike, you can leave your phone at home and monitor your real-time pace and distance on your wrist. Simply select a workout on your device, wait for the signal to lock on, and tap the start button. You’ll get on-wrist alerts each time you switch heart rate zones, and can enable Run Detect and Auto Pause, allowing Charge 4 to automatically connect the GPS and begin recording your workout once you start running, and pause it when you stop to take a break.
Unlike other fitness trackers, the heart of the Fitbit Charge 4 is more akin to that of a smartwatch, with built-in GPS, Spotify – Connect & Control, and other high-end features, such as Fitbit Pay, app notifications, sleep tracking tools, and smart wake alarms.
And if you’re out and about and want to stop for a takeaway coffee or pick up essentials at the grocery store, don’t forget to set up Fitbit Pay™ on your new Charge 4 device for an easy, contactless way to pay. For doing the one-time setup, you can open the Fitbit app, tap your profile image to enter Account settings, select Charge 4, tap Wallet and follow the instructions in the app to add your card to Fitbit Pay. Fitbit Pay is available with nearly 500 issuers in 44 countries and 10 transit systems worldwide, including Al Hilal Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, Emirates NBD, Finance House, Habib Bank AG Zurich, Najm and RAKBANK in the UAE.
But that’s not all, for users looking for extra support and motivation, Fitbit Premium provides great value to what it means to be “on Fitbit,” delivering more personalized content and actionable insights to help people eat better, sleep better and move more. In addition, anyone new to Fitbit Premium will receive a 90-day free trial of the paid membership, which includes personalized health insights, guidance, advanced sleep tools, customized programs and 200+ workouts from brands brands like barre3, Daily Burn, obé fitness, Physique 57, POPSUGAR and Yoga Studio: Mind & Body.
If you are unable to access Premium and you have not tried Fitbit Coach yet, Fitbit is also offering a 90-day free trial so you can stream video workouts on your phone or computer – even if you don’t have a Fitbit device yet. To access Premium or Coach, visit the Fitbit app®.
