In an era where most people consume their football via Meme and Twitter, a good ’90s era throw back feels like a refreshing splash in the face. This is exactly what Adidas Football has done with the launch of its new Icon collection of vintage-inspired football kits.
The nineties were a wildly questionable time when it comes to fashion, but as a direct result some of the most memorable – and iconic – football kits were produced with intense bright colours and loud prints. This is the leaping off point for Adidas’s new Icon collection explores a selection of retro looks that continue to blur the lines between sporting performance and streetwear.

Due to its official partnerships with some of the world’s biggest clubs and national teams including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Italy.

Each kit has been designed with an oversized silhouette and glossy finish while the collection’s highlights come in the form of the new Manchester United jersey that is complemented by distressed black and blue line detailing.

Furthermore, Italy’s national team home and away kits have been revitalized with solid colour blocks and Real Madrid’s versions throw things back with a new all-white design, reminiscent of Figo’s classic number ‘7’ kit.

Kits are already available for sale, but won’t be worn by clubs in competitive matches.
