Ralph Lauren finally unveiled the opening ceremony uniforms that they designed for the USA team for the 2020 Summer Games.
With the Tokyo Olympics being just around the corner, sports fanatics are excited to watch the events. However, fashion fanatics are just as thrilled to see how each athlete competes in style.
toWhile competitors may be silently struggling because of the Japanese summer weather and heat, the USA team will be chilling with a cooling feature designed and built in their jackets by Ralph Lauren.
The designed jackets have a cutting-edge personal cooling feature that regulates the body temperature when exposed to intolerable and high heat. So basically, USA competitors are wearing a portable air-conditioner, every UAE resident’s dream.
Ralph Lauren’s vice chairman of the board and chief brand and innovation officer David Lauren said the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) dressed athletes in blazers for the opening ceremony to reflect the aspect of global ambassadorship. The team will not only wear a navy blazer but a T-shirt, a scarf, shoes, and a face mask.
Lauren also said that having personal thermal management at the games will give people an idea about sustainability which is a mission for the apparel brand.

He even described the Opening Ceremony as the ‘ultimate fashion show’ for the athletes to show off US innovation and be proud.
The brand wanted something that stood out, so they spoke to leaders in the environmental and sustainability movement. Ralph Lauren got inspired by the Department of Energy and what they were doing in the emerging field of personal thermal management.
The label ended up with the RL COOLING technology, a battery-powered device inserted into the back of the jacket, which is a fancy explanation for a portable air conditioner.
Each clothing item that the US team will wear at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is made in the United States and made of sustainable materials, in a way.
Ralph Lauren believes that by designing the year 2020 in the logos, the merchandise is more profitable in the secondary market.
