Man vs Fire

Six-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt is no stranger to competition. He’s raced against the very best of the world’s athletes over the last few years of his career, and with Rio 2016 quickly approaching it doesn’t seem like he’ll be stopping anytime soon.

However, what we’ve never seen before is Usain Bolt face off against one of the human race’s most unparalleled competitors – fire. Being an incredibly hot-headed mistress who combines necessary warmth with indelible scorches all over the globe’s landscape, the mastery of fire has often eluded mankind. She is even highly suspected as being the primary instigator of the Great Fire of London back in 1666. So the Earth and fire have got a bit of a history, and not a pretty one at that.

As part of Nissan’s latest digital campaign, aptly titled “Bolt vs. Flame”, the Jamaican sprint champion faces off against nature’s hottest property in a two-minute documentary-style film that showcases Bolt challenging a “Fire Research Laboratory” in order to compete against the speed of a flame.

The video was filmed in Bolt’s home country of Jamaica and also shows the sprinter driving his custom Nissan GT-R painted in brash “Bolt Gold.” This custom car definitely joins the love of adoring female fans and fantastic calves as yet another item on the ever-expanding list of reasons to be jealous of the enigmatic sprinter.

While this campaign is definitely entertaining, we can’t wait for Bolt to challenge the best of the best and sincerely hope that he issues out further open challenges in order to race against the powerhouses of the speed of light, sound, and time in the near future. Or past. It depends on how successful Bolt is against the latter.
