Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto give you the World Cup capsule collection

While we secretly think that the designer and master tailor Yohji Yamamoto will be supporting his home country of Japan come June, and this year’s World Cup finals, that’s not exactly official line coming out of his Y-3 collaboration with Adidas. In fact you won’t find those guys cheering any on side in Brazil, Y-3 is all about the game itself.

It comes as no surprise then that the simple slogan ‘In Football We Trust’ prevails and serves as the main message for the collection, using 1950´s iconography and the symbolic gesture and simple act of shaking hands to promote fairness on and of the pitch – taking inspiration from the spirit of good sportsmanship and turning it into a damn fine collection of clothes and accessories that finally offers men a stylish alternative to a replica kit.

A small capsule of apparel, footwear and accessories that references easy sophisticated track materials and smooth satins. The clothing line features a woven crest, such as the black tango polo shirt, the ‘Shake Hands’ T-shirt in black or white and the black Letterman bomber jacket. Accessories include a cotton knit scarf on back featuring the ‘In Football We trust’ slogan, and an exclusive, and excitingly sinister, all black football. Finally Y-3’s classic sneakers complete the collection with the Honja Hi and the all-time favorite Sprint.

All things considered it seems a collection good enough to retain your pride whichever country you’re rooting for this summer.
