No better way to get into the summer mood than to channel Ben Affleck…am I right? But what does that mean exactly?

In a recently posted TikTok clip by Michael Major, he describes it as “walking around drinking Dunkin’ iced coffee while really stressed out.” But in order to fully channel the Affleck aesthetic, one must also summon his wardrobe of choice, i.e., bidding farewell to bougie designer brands, and instead opting for a messy, stressed out fit of nondescript, generic brands.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has generated an ocean of imitators despite that, presumably, being the last said A-lister envisioned when leaving the house. The most famous one being Adam Sandler’s fashion choices over the years, which many said spawned what would become the Billie Eilish/Justin Bieber aesthetic, i.e., XXXL sized clothes for an XXXS sized person.

Though Ben’s wardrobe is noticeably more fitted, aside from his vast collection of exclusive, designer sneakers, the rest of his threads seem to be deliberately minimalist: logo-less hoodies, jackets, jeans and t-shirts, like an American James Bond, if James Bond had just founded his own tech startup.

Bottom line, the summer 2024 aesthetic seems to be: highly stressed and highly caffeinated.
