Sustainable yacht creator Silent Yachts have partnered with Dubai based electric vehicle platform, EV Lab to launch solar powered yachts in the Middle East.

These vessels will be completely powered by clean energy using solar panels and batteries to fuel the yachts electric motor.

At the moment, two models are available for purchase, the Silent 64 and Silent 55. The Silent 55 is priced at €2.25 million whereas the price for the 64 is available upon request.

The Silent 55 is 19.43 metres long with a top speed of 10kt and the first solar powered yacht to cross the entire Atlantic Ocean.

The Silent 64 is 16.70 metres long with a top speed of 20 kt and won the Best of Boats Award in the category “Best for Travel”.

Both yacht options offer an an E-Power+ propulsion option which increases the vessels top speed up to 20 knots (37 kilometers an hour).

“higher speeds can be sustained for even longer periods of time while also maximizing the amount of energy which can be stored for back-up and deployed whenever needed.” says EV Lab.

Another interesting feature is that these solar powered yachts could be fully charged without needing a charger in theory and are “a first in the industry” according to Silent Yacht.

“We expect the solar panel recharge technology to be a perfect fit and over perform in our market as we have an abundance of availability in solar energy.” says Kevin Chalhoub, Founder and Chief Executive of EV Lab.
