Dutch submersible manufacturer, U-Boat Worx have built a submarine called the UWEP (Underwater Entertainment Platform) that can carry up to 120 guests, excluding the crew and staff to a depth of 200 metres to provide a unique experience under the sea.

What’s inside
The UWEP boasts 1,600 squared feet of space that features a bar, restaurant and can even be transformed to host a wide range of special events such as business conferences or weddings.
The submarine is air conditioned and also has luxury bathrooms for when you need to freshen up.

It could also be converted into a gym. Curling dumbbells or running on the treadmill as you gaze into the sea would make a gym session more exciting, however, some of us would be worried about dropping heavy weights and causing a puncture in the submarine. At least that fear would encourage people to gently put their equipment back.
Then again, if a whole car can be displayed in the sub as seen below, then perhaps our 5KG dumbbells are light work for the UWEP.

The vessel is solely battery powered and can operate nonstop for up to 18 hours. It can be recharged in a port or via a floating dock in between events.
“The UWEP will shake up both the submarine and hospitality industry and lead the way in bespoke underwater events. We will not only present a stellar experience for the most discerning clientele, but also a business opportunity that will benefit entrepreneurs and contribute to our understanding of the oceans.” said Founder and CEO of U-Boat Worx, Bert Houtman.
14 large windows surround the submarine which has exterior lights to sure that guests always have a clear view of the ocean as well as the marine life that may pop up to the window to see what the party’s all about.

After taking a dive, guests can venture up to the 85 square metre sundeck which will allow you to watch the sunset or look back at the city lit up at night.
“Our goal as a company has always been to make the oceans more accessible for everyone, and with the launch of our UWEP we can truly say that U-Boat Worx provides your gateway to discovery.” said Roy Heijdra, Marketing Manager for U-Boat Worx.
UWEP safety features
Rest assured that the sub has a Maximum Depth Protection feature (MDP) which prevent the submarine’s pilot from diving deep than the vessels maximum operating depth. If ti ever did dive too far, this safety feature automatically raises the sub to its certified 200 metre depth level.
What this also means is that one of those creepy angler fish with the light over their heads wont suddenly pop up in front of the windows like a jump-scare. The sub doesn’t go low enough to find them and to be honest, we would choke on our food if that happened.
There is also a pinger which gives out a pulse that can be received on the surface. This means that the precise location of the submarine can be tracked at all times so there’s no fear of getting lost.
